(From memory):

The front door handles can be removed without disturbing the inner door panel. The central locking switch is attached.

There is a plastic plug in the doorjamb, a little lower than the door handle, which is the electrical connector to the central locking switch in the lock. Pull that out to test.

To remove the handle (and thus the switch), remove the plastic plug in the doorjamb directly in line with the handle, back the allen set-screw inside out. Slide the lock assembly toward the doorjamb and the pull it straight out of the door.
