No, it isn't dumb at all. At least I don't think so, and there are a lot of people out there who don't think do either. I don't think it's that weird to get attached to a car. Think of how many things you go through with a car, and how many things it gets you through (and to). It's a source of pride and it's like a bit of personal space you can take anywhere. And you entrust your life to it every time you get in it. I can relate, I've had my 87 since, well 87, and I've worked hard to restore it to the glory it had kind of lost through many miles as my dad's mechanically-but-not-aesthetically cared for daily driver.
