If the vacuum lock system is working, I don't see much benefit to installing a jerry-rigged, loud, clunking electric system.

On both my cars I installed a remote lock system just on the drivers door so I don't have to wear out my key.

On these cars the lock vacuum is controlled by a switch in the driver's door and a pump in the trunk so they already sort of are electronic, he is just adding another switch. I kind of like this idea, but it seems like it would be easier to just pull on the driver's door lock mushroom when you need to let somebody in.
