Pull off the distributor cap and take a look at the rotor + cap for any cracks or dirt. Clean them, but if suspect, replace them.

Start with an ignition system tune up if it needs one.

If your idle air hoses are hard, replace them too. There are a few: 2 go into the Idle Control valve -- One to the throttle body and the other near the head (this one is the hardest to do). The other two are attached to the valve cover.
