For the most part nothing, like I said. A miss-adjusted pitman shaft will cause play if it is too loose, and binding if too tight. However if the adjustment can be made to specs the amount of threads showing most likely does not matter. It is possible for the pitman shaft to bottom out in the case making it unable to be adjusted to specs, when that is the case you will see alot of threads showing. I feel that for 150,000 miles it's likley you will only 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn of adjustment at the most, likely you won't require any. So we take that into account when we rebuild our boxes. Any box that does not have about 1 1/2 turns or so of adjustment left after it is in spec, gets the pitman replaced. As always if anyone has question feel free to call. 702.734.8090
