People are moving on to bigger and better things, which is why GM is dying. You cannot have staff to support a 50% market share if you only have 20%. Yes, you are right, there is more slack than there should be. OTOH, we have our friend Darwin to tell us that if we cannot evolve, we die. These affected people need to be on top of their game and move on to the next employer that is going to pick up some of the slack left by GM or move to another industry. When my company was having issues, I saw the writing on the wall. Within 2 weeks of them firing me, I was already settling down to run my own business.
