the heater control on my 83, 300D will not turn down or turn off the hot water that goes to the heater. i believe its the valve assembly thats mounted on the firewall that the hoses run thru. question is, how do they work with the electric current thats supplied to them from the controller on the dash ?

are they a servo motor that opens and closes the valve in modulated steps or what ?

are there any cutaway pictures of this thing someone could point me to ?
