Auxilary electric fan
On the w123 models, there is one fan, bolted to the front of the radiator. It is just a fan, and whatever turns it on is not included in the circuitry.
Prices range from over $400 to around $70 delivered, though you should be able to find one at a junkyard, All you need to test it are a couple of sets of alligator clips and a battery or source of 12V DC current.
The cheaper one will be made in Taiwan or maybe China, but I do not think that this is such a highly technical part that the extra $200-$300 cost of a Euro-made part is warranted. Electric motors last a long, long time, and when they are undamaged, usually lubrication or new brushes will restore them to life.
If you can get the part number, google that.
The fan itself will fit any w123, but the surround might have bolt holes in different places and require a bit of drilling, or inserting in the proper frame.
