Did you loosen the big 19mm bolt on the tensioner and then adjust some slack into the system with the tensioner adjustment bolt? If you don't give it a good amount of slack that belt won't be going back on.

Did you remove the fan or leave it installed? It is possible to do it with the fan on, but takes some patience.
