I soaked one of my TDI manifolds in diesel for a day. I might as well have put it in soap and water. It did not do anything. Even with wire brushes it was impossible to clean.
If the crud is not "too hard" it may come off. But if it is what I have seen before.... Forget it.
It takes some serious solvents and ingenuity to get that stuff out of there.
