Isn't your scenario outside of the discussion parameters . . . it's no longer the protection of property, but the immediate risk of serious bodily injury or death, for which the use of deadly force is universally recognized in our country.
What I understand from the words of some of our members is that the use of deadly force, merely for the defense of property, is not only a good idea, but one that should be widely utilized.
