Had a 99 ML320 not too long ago...cargo room is the same for both.

You have 44" from fender to fender on those models (W163). I don't know about depth since I haven't measured with the seats down.

If you look at the newer (W164) ML models, the cargo width is a bit narrower...I found this out when I traded up and started moving gear from the older ML to the newer one...
