I use Mobil 1 in the trans and boy does that stuff work great. I change it at 100k mile intervals. First 100k miles the stuff that came out was just as clean and nice as what I refilled it with. I was amazed at the cleanliness of the valve body and pan. Replace the filter with the fluid and of course drain the converter as well. Mobil 1 is expensive, but heck at 100k mile change intervals its far cheaper than any other route. I'm about a quarter of the way through my second interval and the dipstick still shows bright red clean fluid.
For trannys my experience has been Mobil 1 ATF and GM Syncromesh for manual boxes are about the best you can do.
