The EPA is nuts.
My 1986 300E 5-speed has nearly 200k on it.
I still consistently get 23-25 MPG in mixed driving.
26-28 MPG for just highway.
I've never even approached 18 MPG under the worst of conditions.
I would not classify myself as a light-foot, either.
