what to look for on a PPI- 116 chassis
hi all- I was contacted by a friend who is interested in a 78 300SD.
aside from the normal stuff, what is there to look out for on this car vs a 123?
I did get a quick look at it- rust free Texas car, leather seats-(henna??) the pass side is crumbling, the rear seat is removed(crumbling??) and the driver side door panel is removed- window regulator is supposedly toast.
the servo is bypassed, the vac locks dont function, and the paint is totally shot.
It needs tie rods, at the least.
all parts are supposed to be accounted for.
there has been a bit of work done to it, all by an indy- (frt bearings, rear shocks,rear brakes, bypass clock which was killing battery.....) I may get his info and call him on the car, see what he thinks. Car has newer tires, but nothing special.
The best part is that this was supposedly a barn find-the car only has 79K on it. with the partially disassembled interior and the issues that I have seen in 5 minutes of looking, I think they are a bit high in their price range, although I am sure that someone w/ a good parts car would pay the $2K they want.
I am going to take it for a drive today, that should tell some more.....
