When we got it, you could weed whack the entire backyard in 10 minutes. Enter - The Skidsteer!! Invaluable piece of equipment. The playscape thing-a-ma-bob is actually on the leech field, and used to be the lowest part of the yard. Watching the snow melt and rain build up on top of my field prompted buying the machine. It's first job was digging out the back of the house for the cement patio, then picking up the 10' pieces of wall that got cut out of the foundation (yes, they are buried in the backyard), then it was the yard, then the driveway, then the yard again. It has also been used for a scaffold when doing the siding, lifting deck beams into place, rock digger and mover (I know exactly how big of a rock it will lift), and snow plow. Did I mention that it's diesel? Anyway, most of the credit goes to the equipment, without it, I would have dug a trench off the leech field and been done. Besides, **** grows like crazy out here, and I cheated with the first lawn application - hydroseed. It is a real pleasure to see the kids run around barefoot in the grass though, the true reason for a lawn.
