Pulled the instrument cluster today - the red fuse looked fine, but I have a bad rheostat. I jumped the connection on the back of the instrument cluster (where the rheostat plugs in) and I got lights - all of them!

Question: Do you even need the rheostat? I can't ever remember wanting my Mercedes dash lights dimmer! Will the trip odometer reset still work?
