Do not panic about the action of the temperature gauge and the thermostat. This behavior appears to be "normal" with the 116 (380) engine, due to the way that the thermostat works. Now, if it stays at or over 100, or goes above that, that's another story.
I would not go to a shop and tell them you suspect a head gasket, because if you do then that is what it will be
