Once those bulbs get hot, they're as fragile as the mantles in those Coleman Camp Lanterns...
When you shut the projector off, CAREFULLY REMOVE ANY CABLES ATTACHED TO THE UNIT...or better yet, let the unit cool down for about 15 minutes before disturbing the dang thing...hot filaments break REALLY EASY...
Obviously, I know...$400.00 or more for a frickin' bulb is pretty dang outrageous...but, when you need one, and there's only one to be had...youse gots to pay da' piper!
(Can you tell I hate those things?!?)

Hey boss, I
think he is talking about a bulb for an old-school rear projection television--not a home theater projector. If not, you are right, he's going to get nothing worth a damn nfor $100 from biz rate: I just bought a new bulb for my Optoma HD80XX home theater projector for exactly the reason you stated--had some 'professionals' redo the ceiling mount with a nice sunken cabinet, and they broke the bulb moving it--literally dropped the projector and the bulb quit--at least they admitted the deed. They did split the cost of replacement with me, and it was close to $500 for an......1800 lumens bulb(?). I let them order, so that was cost for that bulb
