I really wasn't struck by the sadness of it all until I watched a collage of his various videos shown on MSNBC, starting at the beginning of his career - from the Jackson Five up to his "Thriller" album, I couldn't help but be struck by the fact it was one work of genius and immense talent after another, and then it is obvious the world-wide fame and international success of "Thiller" drove this man insane, after that point it was a descent into hell. His last appearance, a few days ago, in announcing his comeback tour, to me, showed a severely mentally ill man. In a way, I am glad for him that his suffering is over.
