About 20 years ago a strong line of tornados went through Eastern NC. I drove from Raleigh back to Wilmington the next day. I crosses the path of the tornado several times. In 100 yards distance, houses were perfectly fine, then roofs blown off, then a whole house gone, and a full size Chevy van wrapped around the top of tree, then 100 yards down the road all is fine.
