Parking Brake - spring behind shoes

How in the world are those springs reattached?

Parking brake shoe replacement.

The springs in question is the one down by the cable connection - long spring with a coil at either end. This connects the two shoes

The spring does not expand much, and to keep the spring strength, I don't want to stretch the springs.

The one at the other end will be a challenge also but the spring has more visibility.
