I grew up in the Valley of the Sun and for many years, none of the cars I was carted around in had air conditioning. I played little league baseball in the summertime in the middle of the day and we went for long family vacations in the 56 Ford Fairlane stuffed to the windows. (It really was a DRY heat in the 60s. Not any more.)

Now that I'm older and softer and live in a place where the mercury passes 100 only about 7 times a year, I live in a house without air conditioning (houses built in the 20s simply weren't expected to have air conditioning). I like it. You actually get to hear the birds singing in the trees and the squirrels jabbering away at each other. The delta breezes rustle the oak leaves and it's pretty peaceful.

Would hate NOT to have airconditioning in my car, though!

Things have a way of coming back to you.
