For one, their stories match up pretty well for it to be mere dreams or psychological issues, and second, some even have physical evidence on their bodies from the medical examinations that the aliens performed on them.
Anyone ever seen a real UFO in person or been abducted? I think the documentary said that in a survey it was found about 2% of the world population has been abducted, but mainstream scientists and governments don't like to talk about it for fear of spreading panic and sounding ridiculous.

I think it's exclusively a question of psychology. The so called evidence which has been pretty much the same old shtick since the 1950's is nothing that couldn't be contrived. There has never been a shred of physical evidence that is of an extraterrestral nature. As for most of the worlds scientists not wanting to "talk about it". Most of the worlds scientists are simply too busy with actual science to bother with crank stuff.
Have you ever read any books by Carl Sagan? Specifically "Broca's Brain" and "A Demon Haunted world"?
