BTW, is the "cabin" still standing? Have you even wanted to go back and see if it was? I'm actually trying to get back to every place I've lived over the years and get pictures of areas and even the homes, if they still exist (Two have been "mowed down" due to RE development. Even the roads are gone...) One place, where I worked, was completely bulldozed and the area is now a city park...talk about urban improvement...

Yes, the cabin still stands today. It's a nice A-frame with twin lofts (used as bedrooms) and a rather spacious main floor. In later years, we added a deck, electricity from a propane generator, and skylights. When we built the cabin, dad had been working in construction for many years, so we built it to last. There will never be true running water there, as it sits on the peak of Ohio's second highest point.
My older brother and I now own the land and cabin, and use it at least 2-3 times a year to hunt and fish. We have a decent little 3 acre pond with plenty of fish and other good eats.
Both parents are still alive, and I have told them my feelings on the cabin and the life we lived back then. I only wish i could give my children that same opportunity in life...to become closer as a family.
