A good set of used Bosch or Hella are the way to go. I have used Bosch on my W126 I bought on ebay for $150. That has been one of the best upgrades I did. I enjoy driving at night where there are no streetlamps and can revel in how much better they are than my brothers toyota land cruiser! They make the car look so much better too, especially if the plastic doors are all yellowed out over the years.
