Oh wow
I came across my own post while looking around for random stuff.
Myself and a friend of mine converted a vw cabby to a 2.0L 16 valve MS managed engine, tuned it with a laptop on the road, the car ran like a charm.
There were a few issues but most of them came from the engine swap not the MS. MS seems to be a very popular choice right now and since the time of my original posting, I decided to leave the benz alone since it would require some fabrication and it runs well the way it is, but I had the entire project planned out at some point.
The guys who put MS together did a real fine job, the CPU running on the system can do a lot more then just manage the engine, and the recent ignition module upgrades make it even easier, you can literally rip all electronics out and put MS in and have it running in a few days.
Depending on what you want to use the car for, you can have multiple timing and enrichment maps saved and selected with a flick of a button, so if you only have one car and want to take it to the track, this is probably the most effective way to go.
I decided to save this project for a porsche which I'll probably buy in my later years since fuel injection offers a lot over carbs and I don't want a new porsche, the older the better lol!.
I'm glad to see MS caught on, but I never thought it would be used on lambos, I always figured that this is one car that would not need improving on.
Oh, and my old benz lives on lol! it's 2009 now and it is still on the road every day and very healthy with a record of dying on the road only once when the alternator quit on me (keep an eye on that rear defroster switch lol!)
Cheers!
xp
