The M103 powered 300E's all qualify for the clunker program because the gov claims they only get 17mpg. Yeah right.....I've seen over 26 in mine on the highway, and average about 20-21.
They do actually crush the car, so is it possible to strip/snag a bunch of parts off of it prior to the crusher/trade in? I assume they take most anything since it will be crushed....I'd try stripping all good parts off it to sell!
My car misses eligibility by 23 days, as I bought it in late November last year.....not that I would ever send it to the crusher!
That, and I would never buy a *new* car anyways. All the rebate does is absorb some of the initial "drive it off the lot" depreciation. Perhaps a deal to some, but not to me....I'll let the first owner(s) of my cars eat all the depreciation first.
