Just got back home from the Annual Solidarity with all Non-acknowledgers of God, Non-Protestants, and Atheists Paddlers Picnic? Here are a few things that did happen on August 7th in years past:

1794 - President Washington issued a proclamation calling for those involved in the Whiskey Rebellion to return home. At the same time, he called for the militia to stop the rebellion.

1942 - The US landed forces on Guadalcanal during World War II.

1964 - Gulf of Tonkin resolution passes through Congress.
