What a cool car! We had a '62 1/2 of the same car. Dark red, 4-on-the-floor. I also remember it having a sliver racing style dashboard. The turbo really would sing accelerating uphill in 2nd gear.
Another crazy thing I remember about the car is that it had a glass bottle of blue liquid held in a clip under the hood for mixing with water to make windshield washer fluid...
My first car was a 1971 Ford Maverick, 200 CID inline 6, 115 HP. I tried everything I could think of to make that car cooler - sport steering wheel, glass pack muffler, stuff like that. As the kids would say today, it was "epic fail"...
I inherited the car from my father but I paid for all insurance, fuel and maintenance. The car lasted for a few years until a carload of kids in a huge Thunderbird pulled out in front of me and I creamed them going about 50 MPH...
