The attachment that iluvjeasus has shown is just the connector for the motor / strip fuse, along with the regulator. The actual strip fuse is located on the opposite side of the motor, in the fresh-air inlet of the fan-motor housing. (It looks like a long spring). It's rare that these fail. The fact that your problem appears intermittent would indicate that the CC controller is not making good connections in certain positions.
