Clearly ANY liquid compressed through a small hole can prove abrasive in the long run.

Reason for reinstalling the old worn out injectors was not given, but it is quite common for them to cause flooding and therefore warm start problems.

A bit of a test is the typical start-flooded-engine drill, i.e. crank with throttle opened some to provide more air.
