They have 120 days to sell parts off the car. After that whatever is left must be crushed. What they put into the engine is basically very very fine sand mixed with water. The water evaporates and the sand is left behind on the bearings.

And ya... I pay about double to plate and insure my SDL then what I pay to plate and insure my TDI... and my TDI has more coverage

It costs less to put plates on my friends 2003 F350 too!
