Ya know, you just can't please some people! I figured I'd finally get around to doing this fix and so I did.

I used a dremel tool with a round "ball" bit. Took about 15 minutes. 10 minutes on the first side because I had to hold the switch against the spring pressure to get the dremel in place, 2 minutes for the second side since the detent held the switch in place and about 3 minutes total for removal and installation. It's a lot easier if you slip the wiring connection loose from it's bracket on the underside of the dash.

Of course, I'd gotten so used to the "self-canceling" feature that now I find myself changing lanes and forgetting to turn the signal off. I've got to get back in the habit of just using a slight touch to activate the signals for lane changes. "Procedure not required or understood in the states of California, Florida and Nevada.
