Hmmm that's not the impression I got. He didn't ask if that was a fair price or not, or mention that he doesn't know anything about such stuff, or ask if there's any steps he could DIY. he simply said "how can I do this cheaper". To me that implies cutting corners and/or substandard parts. That never sits well with me.

A proper diesel injector rebuild includes:

1. disassembling the injector bodies
2. ultrasonic cleaning of injector bodies and all internal components
3. replacing the injector nozzles with new ones
4. reassembling the injectors
5. pop-testing the injectors
6. shimming them to the correct pop pressure

If that $89 per injector includes new high-quality nozzles, that's a very fair and decent price. Fratelli Bosio nozzles for the 606 are $52 each FYI.
