The windshield and top are 3 or 4 years old, the engine has about 115k (in kms) on it according to said owner.
The front bumper is 1/2 on the ground, fenders have holes and evidence of a prior bondo body job and the frame rail has punched up through the floor pan, it has been parked on grass for a while. When I asked what kind of money they wanted, I was told $2000!!
Maybe I need a reality check?
I saw that car on Kijij, and emailed him for an opening price. The response was to make a 'decent offer'. Now I know what 'decent' is I guess. I was thinking of using the front and rear subframes/engine/etc. for a streetrod project, selling off the parts to offset costs, but changed my mind. From what you describe, the car was hit hard on the front. If the subframe is bent, it's a parts car for sure, so you might want to add up the going prices on EBay, or here too for that matter, to see if $$ could be made. I seriously doubt you'd make much with an initial $2000.00 (CDN of course) investment though.
BTW Is it a 6 cyl or 8...and is it a 380SL? I thought the 280SL was 1968 - 71
