Did you ever see or drive one in the UK or RSA, Peter?

My father owned two. My first vehicular memory was of a black one with rich red leather that my father had when I was very young. I particularly remember the fold down walnut "coctail" tables on the back of the front seats. I used to sit on his lap and he'd let me steer it into our driveway. Must have been about four or five at the time. No power steering

He sold it shortly therafter and we never saw one again till he picked one up on a whim in the late eighties. I drove that one quite a bit. I did rather like it. Comfortable old world feel with pretty good cruising ability.
As you said, a kind of mixture of American external styling with british "country squire" interior. Rather an unusual vehicle and one that I'd like to own again just for the eccentricity of it.
