This thread reminds me of a bunch of old men sitting around talking about piling up to go boxes at the Early Bird special.
Fraud, wasting a working man's time, ect....Is your conscience worth $80.00 (my most recent tow bill--about 20 miles, I think). If you are wasting time figuring out how to chisel AAA out of a illegit. tow to saved $80, should you really be buying the car? I mean, you can drive off with gas, sure, but I am not sure how to steal repairs.
Weren't you the guy that got ripped off by a co-worker recently?
I've worked with a few towing outfits. It is a steady stream of income, but the driver's hate AAA tows, unless they are on salary. They are contractually bound to respond and face severe breach of contract penalties if they get caught in a subterfuge about not having a vehicle, driver, ect....I represented one guy who only had an 18 wheeler wrecker left on his lot--didn't even have a personal ride. He got a call to go unlock a vehicle that had a dog inside. 120 mile round trip, cost him $60 (or more, can't remember) in fuel and AAA paid $75.
