1. Its a 1999 Series 1- By that year they had worked most of the bugs out of.
2. One of the original reasons the Discovery suffered in quality is because they simply made too many....It was a sales success but in increased production volumes grew too high for the quality control to be kept in check. BUT in 1999 Series One Production was toned down significantly so the last ones were generally better built as production shifted to the Series II model.
3. This one has a great service history and I can tell that it has been well cared for.
4. The current owner has two and the other one is equally cared for.
5. Where most Discoverys had duel sunroofs this one has none....so thats two less things to go wrong.
7. Many owners can attest that if you know how to fix them yourself that reliability really isn't much of a problem.
7. They're are surprisingly simple vehicles and access in the engine bay is ample.
8. It really only has one computer to worry about (The engine management) Oxygen sensors are the only other PITA
