A couple of times I got those and was suspicious and didn't call back. Then later found out they were legitimate!
Call him back and ask how he heard about you. Ask some questions. You should figure out pretty quick if it is BS. The only question they might not answer initially is the name of the company they are recruiting for. But they should be able to answer any other question.
