Actually, the blue and white can of 3-in-1 is the kind to shy away from in fan applications {bushing and shaft applications for example}
The black and white can of 3-in-1 is the proper kind to use, and works pretty well.
There is an oil called "Zoom Spout" turbine oil which does a very good job, and has a unique applicator.
