I posted this on the Diesel Forum and got alot of anecdotal replies and reccommendations, but no specific answers (and maybe none are availible) So I though I'd try here anyway.
My '82 240D owner's manual calls for 10W20 engine oil in the manual tranny. All the replies I got on the Diesel Forum insist their manual-shift diesels use ATF, but so far none of the responders has an '82. My '84 Euro 5-speed 300TD owner's manual also calls for ATF in that tranny.
So I was wondering if anyone here knows why engine oil is specified for the manual-tranny in my '82 240D? Thanks.
