w124 window mystery solved
In case this happens to anyone else, here is what I found out about my w124 window problem. - the problem was, the relays were clicking but nothing was moving. all motors were good and all wires were good.
I traced the problem to the fuse box. I had tried rolling the fuses, and got nothing. So, I took the cover off the fuse box, and looked under the fuse block.
Underneath, I noticed a red and yellow wire that plugs into a single pin connector underneath, between F and G. Several circuits are fed by this wire, and I noticed that both window banks had plug type connectors instead of screws. I took these off, cleaned them, and now suddenly everything works perfectly. For me the lesson seems to be that not only to those fuses get a bit of oxidation, but the pin-connections can suffer from this also.
I hope this is helpful to someone who's trying to troubleshoot this stuff.
Does anyone know what the two red fuses inside the relay compartment are for?
