If I ever crack my OM616 open, I expect I'll find the oil control rings plugged up with slime, which would explain the mad oil use I have. PO had the car converted w/ 2 tank, heat exchanger, but the guy with the wrench said OK to leave grease in the engine in the summer.
While I grease, I can't see the sense in blending unless you're fanatical about certain aspects of it, or just want to throw around a beater 240D until it stops. Look up john_galt on frybrid and biodiesel.infopop.com
