A heater is a very different device from an internal combustion engine. Plus those garage heaters are specifically designed for burning used motor oil. Most of the shops I know of use them as well. I still wouldn't put that crap into my engine, filtered or otherwise. You can take your used motor oil to just about any shop, quick-lube, or whatever and they will accept it for proper recycling. Burning it in your car does not make sense, and it produces a lot of really nasty pollution.
