I was thinking that I was initially over analyzing also, but for some reason to me it seems that it doesn't have as much pep to it as before, but then again I haven't driven it regularly for a while, and I still had a pesky air leak somewhere in the fuel lines.
After the filter changes I did take it out for a spin and ran up up to redline through 4 of the 5 gears and it seemed to run ok.
