Yeah, I huffed and puffed a few times before I realized I'd get nowhere with the cap on.
Did you empty the tank before you put the fresh in? When the fuel seperates, the water is heavier and 'sinks' to the bottom which is what you'll be pumping if you didn't empty the tank first.
