Have you checked underneath the intake manifold real good cap'n? I know it is a little different creature but I have some vacuum connections underneath the intake manifold - look around real good under there. I too pull vacuum hoses and wires over to the sides and "fix" them out of the way when I am doing alot of work on the engine.
