It's unfortunate that people like you are the reasons plasmas are going out.

The new plasma models are pretty efficient. I had my new panny plasma on for 2 hours and it wasn't even warm to the touch.

Yep they can get burn in, so don't use them as security camera monitors. Under normal use they are fine.

They last long enough. Even the old models were rated at 30,000 hours. Some rate theirs at 60,000 hours now.

Plasma usually has a better picture quality, they are better for fast motion (although LCD are getting much better), better viewing angle, better contrast.
