I have a w123, w201 and an '08 C350 and would have to say that if you are looking for a tank, the 190E is not the best choice. I actually do have a 1993 2.6L, the immaculate kind with all the stamps in the service booklet etc etc. Car shows quite well; and I love the look. Sacco was a design genius. However I'm constantly breaking things, like the little handle on the air vent directionals, window regs, miscellaneous interior trim pieces. The 190E feels cheap to me. Very low market value for these cars, and the parts cost a fortune. Honestly I'd rather have a w124; that's a real tank, almost as tankish as my w123 which is the definitive Mercedes-Benz in my view. Now THAT'S a tough car! I nailed a deer with that thing at 90mph; car ended up on its right side in the grassy median. Not a scratch on the right side, only damage to the car was from where the animal was struck. no glass, no mirrors were broken in that horrible scary accident. Unbelieveable. Had it fixed and its as solid as ever. Damn what a car. Definitely love the w123 more than the w201. Drivetrain is solid as Benzes go, but the relative lack of sound deadening material and cheap feel of the interior(especially the door panels - WTF??? That's like 80's VW cheesy) compels me to judge it as cheap. Handles like it's on rails with its light weight and near 50/50 weight distribution. My opinion favors a w123 above all; the w201 occupies the least-regarded Mercedes position. Apologies to all w201 fanboys.
